Retired obstetrician-gynecologist who practiced over 30 years, delivered approximately 4000 babies, and cared for thousands of women in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and South Carolina. Missing the wonderful day-to-day interactions I had with patients and also sadly missing my daily visits with my mother who passed away April 18, 2013 at 100 years of age.
I recently graduated with my masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I was drawn to this field because I really wanted to help people learn more about themselves and their relationships with others. I enjoy hiking, Yoga, and reading a good book on a warm beach. I would describe myself as optimistic, energetic, and compassionate.
Hello my name is Shelly Hayes. I've worked with the medical community for 7 years. I'm a native Californian and enjoy the various outdoor activities the Bay Area Peninsula has to offer. I've been married 24 years and have two children in college. I've love yoga, energy healing, tending my succulent garden, walking in the woods, watching baseball, caring for dogs and educating families about the natural healing solutions of essential oils.

It was through her love that I experienced first hand unconditional love, compassion, empathy, advocacy and the best jokes ever! I honor her memory and pay these gifts forward. These are values I live.
Before I became a mom, I worked for a women's center and was a volunteer advocate for their crisis line. Becoming a mother steered my life in a new direction and , in addition to caring for the loves of my life, I became a professional volunteer working closely with my boys' schools and sports communities. Listening, caring, and involvement are components I bring to my relationships.
I enjoy all things outdoors, reading, crafting, learning new things, meeting new people, time with friends and family, and always a good laugh. All made sweeter when shared with others.
I am a Chinese American who is currently attending college. I volunteer part time at the College of San Mateo gym assisting handicapped individuals in the adapted training class. I enjoy taking care of all kinds of patients as an ER nurse. For fun, I like to dance with my husband and take pictures of beautiful flowers and more. Connecting with other seniors is something that I have always enjoyed doing.
My best friends would describe me as kindhearted, caring, and compassionate woman.
I'd like to think of myself as a pet-loving, musical, artistic, and compassionate individual with a love for connecting with others. My interests are varied. I’m curious, so I love to read, everything from novels, biographies, and “how to” books, to studying countries, cultures, and the stars. I’m creative and resourceful, so I enjoy cooking, and then setting an imaginative table. I love all music, an integral part of my daily life, enjoying concerts, playing CD’s, or just listening to the radio. It’s always in the background and calms me, often transporting me to a different time and place. I’m very social, a people-person, a good listener, and relish spending time with friends while doing a host of different activities. I also require my private time to ponder, contemplate, deliberate, and meditate.
Most importantly, I’m confident. I like to laugh, don’t take myself too seriously, tell a pretty good story, a “seldom” forget the punch line. (Please don’t ask me to offer an example; that’s when the dementia sets in.
